Hi! I'm Rachel.

I have a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a master's degree in strategic communication management. I began my career in journalism, but I found my true passion in higher education marketing. I'm currently VP of Marketing & Communications for South Piedmont Community College. (This is my son celebrating my master's degree graduation and his preschool graduation. He is much older now.)

On weekends, I like to climb mountains. During the week, I like to take on higher education marketing challenges. A few examples of projects I've led: the rebranding of Polk County Public Schools, the redesign of spcc.edu, and the creation of a new mascot for South Piedmont Community College.  I've also created emergency communications plans, internal communications strategies, and numerous successful enrollment campaigns.

The thing I'm most proud of in my career is the teams that I have built and led. I have a track record of both recognizing and developing my staff's talents, and I'm proud to say that many of my former employees (and even student workers) are now serving in leadership roles themselves. As a leader, I provide vision, empathy, clear direction, regular constructive feedback, the freedom to pursue great ideas, and lots of chances to have fun.
